This presentation will demonstrate how educators should embrace film including animation, as a mentor text in reading workshop. How does film help develop reading in learners? What does it mean to be "literate" in the 2017 and how does film as a resource apply in the classroom? In this presentation, I will show how I have used movies to enhance reading skills in both fiction and non-fiction focused lessons.
